Joy Sports FCPPL: Top 5 transfer targets

The Ghanaian transfer window is set to be one of the exciting in recent times as both Hearts and Kotoko will be looking to strengthen their sides after a below par 2014/2015 season.

Champions Ashantigold will also be in the mix as they will be in search of more quality ahead of their CAF Champions League journey.

Inter Allies and Medeama will look to continue their policy of recruiting young talent in the league.

So which players are most likely going to make a move during this window?

RICHARD MPONG
The right winger endured a torrid last season at the Porcupine club amidst bribery allegations. To worsen matters, he has been transfer listed.This will surely bring to an end an almost three year marriage between Mpong and Kotoko. As the biblical saying goes, “When one door closes, another one opens,” and that is exactly the case of Mpong. Ashantigold are hot on the heels of the skillful winger as they believe his experience will enrich their squad for their upcoming campaign. It won’t be long before Mpong becomes a Miner. As to whether he will choke at another big club remains unknown.

KENNEDY ASHIA
The Liberty attacking midfielder is reported to have failed to extend his contract with the Dansoman side. This has paved way for the two traditional giants of the country; Hearts and Kotoko to go after the former U-20 star. Ashia is a sure bet of goals as he has proved consistently over the course of the season. Considering how both clubs especially Hearts struggled to find the net last season, it comes as no surprise Ashia is hotly pursued. The choice is his, and he will surely move.

BABA MENSAH
The Inter Allies man has been a consistent player in the heart of defence for Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side. He has been touted as a hot favorite to end in Kumasi to play with the Porcupines. His move is one which may or may not materialize but he has surely been eyed by Kotoko. The Porcupines are expected to undergo a major haul after a not so good season and see the Black Meteors man as a major piece to the success on the pitch. Baba was impressive for the Tema side last season and with Abeiku AInooson failing to rediscover his form of two seasons ago, Baba coud partner Ahmed Adams in what could be one of the stable defensive partnerships in all time.

STEPHEN ADAMS
The former Aduana Stars keeper has emerged as a target for the Phobians ever since he broke through on the transfer scene. This window might certainly be different as the Accra side are in search of keepers. Tetteh Luggard’s time seems to be up while Seidu Mutawakilu has always been a bundle of nerves anytime he has been given the opportunity. Youngster Richard Kissi may still be some way off in featuring for the senior side while regular number one Soulama Abdoulaye is not always available due to his call-ups to the Burkina Faso national setup. This leaves a glaring deficiency in the goalkeepeing department. Adams is likely to end up there, but should this move fail, Wa All Stars keeper Richard Ofori has been penciled to join the Phobian fraternity.

AMOS KORANKYE
The Hasaacas right full back is one of the sought after players in the league after a superb 2014/2015 campaign. His contribution both in defence and attack guaranteed the Sekondi side another season of Premier League soccer. Now the big guns have come calling for Korankye who packs a bullet in his throw in. It is reported that Korankye will end up in the rainbow colours of Hearts of Oak. Ashgold and Kotoko are lurking behind the scenes should his move to the capital side fall through. Come the commencement of the new season, Korankye should have moved.
