Undecided: Klopp insists "it's not a definite yes or no" after Liverpool contact

Jurgen Klopp has remained coy about the prospect of becoming Liverpool manager.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss is the No.1 choice to take over at Anfield after Rodgers was sacked on Sunday.

They have made a formal approach to Klopp and talks have progressed quickly, with with the Reds hopeful of reaching an agreement before the end of the week.

Klopp, who remains in Germany, appeared to confirm he had spoken to Liverpool on Monday - but insisted there was no update on his future.

"There's nothing to say," he told a Bild reporter, when asked about Liverpool.

"Neither a definite yes nor a definite no. I'm going home now," Klopp said before laughing and walking away.

American owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are determined to have a new manager in place before the next game, which is a visit to Spurs on October 17.

Liverpool's board members are reportedly set to hold a meeting via videophone today where they are expected to rubber-stamp a three-year deal for the German.

Klopp will be given the final veto on incoming players, but will also be expected to work within the financial structure which seemed eventually to stall Rodgers' progression.

The German has worked with a 'transfer committee' at Dortmund and was happy - providing he had the final say - while his ability to develop talent into world-class stars was also evident.

Klopp is likely to agree a three-year contract, with an option for a fourth year, and he is also looking to bring in his long-term Dortmund assistant Zeljko Buvac, along with a fitness coach from Germany.
