OCT 5, 2015 LISTEN

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been charged by the English FA following comments made after the Premier League defeat against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The London club lost to Southampton who came from a goal down to beat the Premier League Champions by three goals to one.

The Football Association announced their charge of misconduct for the Portuguese with a statement which read:

'Jose Mourinho has been charged for misconduct in relation to media comments he made following Chelsea's game against Southampton on Saturday 3 October 2015.

'It is alleged his remarks constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of a match official or match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute.

'He has until 6pm on Thursday 8 October 2015 to respond to the charge.'

The Chelsea told the media referees are afraid to give decisions in his club's favour referring to a penalty claim during the game.

Mourinho said on Saturday:
"When you are so down it is time to be honest and say, clearly, referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea. At 1-1 there is a huge penalty and, once more, we do not get it.

"If the FA wants to punish me they can punish me, no problem. But referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea. Why? Because when they do there is always criticism. So we are always punished."
