Amidst the growing concerns regarding the closure of the Ho sports stadium and the delay of renovation works, Madam Vivian Dugblor Director of the National Sports Authority Volta, In an interview with GBC Volta Star Sports Desk has reechoed there was the need to close down the stadium for renovation works.

Justifying her action, Madam Vivian said the state of the stadium was very bad when she took over the reign as the regional director hence the need to facelift the facility.

“The Ho Sports stadium when I took over as Director was in a bad state. I realize that the place does not befit us as a region. Although government is not doing much to help us I took the initiative to get sponsorship from individuals and corporate bodies so that we can at least renovate the stadium to an appreciable standard so as to feel more comfortable and safe when using it” she said.

With renovation works yet to move into full gear, the populace has articulate concerns towards the tortoise pace of works and questioned when the stadium will be reopened for public use.

But in an explanation, Madam Dugblor expressed her displeasure about the slow pace at which renovation works are currently going and attributed it to sponsors not fulfilling their promises on time.

“Unfortunately the kind of supports that we were envisaging was not forthcoming the way we wanted it, its tolling although we are getting one or two people coming on board but it not coming at the speed that we are expecting it” she said

Madam Vivian Dugblor however pleaded with indigenes and stakeholders who are in expectant of the project to exercise patience and allow for renovation works to be gradually completed.

It will be recall that on the 6th of March, a maximum of six month was given for renovation works to be over for the refurbishment of the stadium but the slow pace at which work is being done has elapse the maximum time frame.

The Ho sports stadium was built in 1957 and has since not seen any reformation.
