Anyone who watched Jordan Ayew in action on Tuesday saw a revitalozed player.

The former Lorient man who has begun life at the Midlands club in a sluggish manner has drawn criticism from several corners who believe he is not cut for the physical nature of the Premiership.

Speaking ahead of Aston Villa’s 1-0 victory over Birmingham in the Capital One Cup, the former Hearts and King Faisal coach was convinced Jordan will hit high heights but must be given time to find his feet.

“He [Jordan] needs time to blossom in England. He is the soft type and has the qualities of a good striker. He has not played that bad in the early days yet but only needs time to blossom.”

“He needs time to learn how his new team mates play and get used to each other. With playing time he will make it in his new environment."

Oti Akenten further urged the youngster to take all chances offered him by Tim Sherwood as opportunities and spaces within the Villa team are limited but very competitive.

“He has to seize every single opportunity that comes his way since he might not get the opportunities forever.”

“The coach might not be giving him the needed playing time forever so he must use all opportunities that come his way. With time and patience, Jordan will come good for Aston Villa.”

Jordan Ayew who started the first two Premiership matches against Bournemouth and Manchester United has seen his playing time reduced drastically.

He however came on at halftime in yesterday’s Capital One Cup gane against Birmingham and was pretty lively making surging runs down the left flank of Villa’s attack.
