The Media Launch for the 2015 edition of the Aspire Football Dreams programme comes off at the British Council in Accra on September 16, 2015.

According to Capt. (rtd) Andy Sam Country Director, this year’s launch will be deferent and exciting as Ghana’s contributions to the Aspire Football Dreams programmes have proved to be excellent products with bright future.

Capt. Sam who is a keen sports man with deep interest for hockey, football and athletics said dignitaries in Ghana Football like the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kwesi Nyantekyi and the Minister of Youth & Sports, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha will grace the occasion.

The founder and chairman of Barbarossa Foundation hinted that the exploits and achievements of young Ghanaian sportsmen who qualified to represent the nation in Qatar would be made known to the media.

He commended the Ghanaian Sports Media who have followed and promoted Aspire Football Dreams events and programmes over the years.

The scouting for young players begins after the launch with the Greater Accra hosting potential rising stars from September 18, 2015.

Aspire Football Dreams was launched in 2007 in Ghana and is currently present in 16 countries, monitoring over 600,000 young footballers per year in Asia, America, and Africa as part of the largest athletic talent search in the world.

“Aspire Football Dreams is a project that is absolutely free for every boy who wishes to fulfill his dreams of becoming a professional footballer. It is an extension of Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence in Qatar, the world-renowned academy for sports. Those selected in the project are trained to manage a successful life and to play in professional football clubs and their national teams in the future. This project has a team consisting of professional trainers, volunteers, and international scouts who select the most talented boys in each country” said Capt. Sam.

This year (2015) is the 8th edition in Ghana, and expectations are high for improved performances from the players.

Josep Colomer, former director of Barcelona’s La Masia Academy who discovered Lionel Messi, Jeffren Suarez, Pedro Rodriguez Ledesma and other coaches were in Ghana last year to coordinate the final selection where 5 players were selected.
