League Report Injunction loading: Kotoko General Manager: We are heading to court over DCs ruling
SEP 2, 2015 LISTEN

Opoku Nti, the General Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has stated that the league champions are heading to court over the decision of the Disciplinary Committee to uphold the protest lodged against them by Accra Hearts of Oak over the eligibility of Obed Owusu, following their match day 25 league victory against the Phobians.

Asante Kotoko on August 4 edged Hearts of Oak 2-1 at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, but according to the Disciplinary Committee, Obed Owusu who was very instrumental in that victory was ineligible to play due to four yellow cards he had received prior to the game and after hearing the case on Tuesday has declared Hearts of Oak winners, pushing Kotoko to the drop zone.

However, the league champions, who disagree with the ruling, have decided to place a court injunction in order to restrain the GFA from organizing the Ghana Premier League (GPL) until their case is resolved.

'We (Kotoko) will do what King Faisal did by putting an injunction on the league and at the same time we will file for an appeal. Our lawyers are set to ensure it happens,' Opoku Nti told Nhyira FM.

The First Capital Plus Premier League has reached its climax, with just two games to end the season, but the action of Kotoko could prevent the penultimate matches from coming off on Sunday, 6 September.
