"My name is Akwasi Donsu. I started my football profession at Techiman AC Milan, from there I went to Berlin FC and after that I moved to Berekum Arsenals and now am with Medeama". This is how the player in 29 jersey summed his football data to me when I caught up with him at the Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi the morning after helping 2013 winners Medeama Sporting Club reclaim glory in a 2-1 repetitive win over defending champions,Asante Kotoko to lift the MTN FA Cup at the colourful Sekondi stadium on Sunday evening.

All three clubs he played for before joining the reigning FA Cup champions,Medeama are Ghanaian clubs based in the Brong Ahafo region. This is Donsu's second season with the Tarkwa based side and he's now a cult hero for his wizardry in the club's FA Cup glorious story.

He scored six goals in total in the cup competition but what is more important to note is that he accounted five of them from the quarter finals to the final. WAFA visited Tarkwa at the quarter finals on a Wednesday afternoon, the game was nearing a 1-1 draw until Akwasi Donsu pulled the trigger from set pieces, scoring two sensational late free kicks with the outside of his boot. The quality of those driving shots would be more appreciated by the cameras and he told me he's comfortable in his unconventional use of his foot.

James Essilfie,C.E.O of Medeama always reminds me of how Donsu was signed on after he came from the bench to score a brilliant free kick against them when he played for Berekum Arsenals. He scored one of such fantastic goals from 25 meters in an Elite Cup match against Eleven Wise at the Sekondi stadium.

Cape Coast stadium was charging with the Hearts fans expecting a win to alleviate their suffering destiny but the calm player and person had his own ambition to pursue in that semi final match. Another brace, from a superlative long ranger from the center area and a calculated rebound goal from about 20 yards. Medeama won 2-1 in the end and the player from obscurity was seen globally on live tv broadcast from Super Sports.

Medeama's Administrative manager,Benjamin Kesse who dabbled as P.R.O made emphatic statement last Friday at the pre-match presser that Akwasi Donsu will score and Medeama will win. That was not to be a mere prediction as Donsu proved his ability to rise to the challenge to score the opening goal of the night against Kotoko at a packed 20,000 arena, illuminating flood light and the live tv coverage on three separate channels of Super Sports.

He had just got into the penalty box when Jacob Appau crossed the ball to him,Donsu chested down the ball and nicely sliced home to the bottom corner of the far post. Different goal styles from a midfielder whose quality is in his ball control, passing, movement and shot power.

Black Stars and Udinese player, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is a father figure to Donsu. The pair of boot he wears to drive his shots and passes is a gift he receives from Badu. "He is my manager. He does everything for me" he said. When I replied that everything meant money,he laughed. I followed that by saying 'Badu might probably buy you a car very soon' he concurred happily that ' I hope so'.

On the eventful night when Medeama lifted the FA Cup trophy, Akwasi Donsu was named the most promising player of the match. That promise is bright and will attract many things. I will be waiting for the awards he wins at the MTN FA Cup Awards. My prayer is he gets the right guidance in his career.
