Football development: Two pitches to be constructed in Accra and Kumasi - Nyantakyi reveals

The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed that it is in the plans of the association to construct two pitches at the end of this year; the pitches will be constructed in Accra and Kumasi.

The standard of the Ghana premier league have been under severe scrutiny as many soccer pundits have questioned the quality being exhibited, but others also hold the opinion that there are a lot of factors affecting the premier league.

And the key factor that can negatively affect the standard of the Ghana premier league is the lack of quality pitches; players need good fields in order to exhibit their real quality.

The Ghana Football Association in their attempt to help improve the standard of the league have revealed that two pitches will be constructed in Accra and Kumasi respectively.

'The club's don't have enough money to improve facilities on the local scene, they rely on the Government to provide these facilities and the Government may not be able to do everything so there is a limitation there. That is why we at the Football Association this year decided that in addition to delivering other mandates entrusted to us, we will also consider improving facilities constructing pitches

'We are doing it first in support of FIFA and we will be doing two pitches one in Accra and one in Kumasi and it will not be artificial but rather natural pitches. They are not stadia but just pitches,' Kwesi Nyantakyi told Metro TV.
