It's matchday 25 in the First Capital Plus Premier League as the first game is played on Friday between WAFA and Bechem United in Sogakope.

The league is gradually approaching its end it's been exciting so far, on the whole.

Hearts of Oak and Kotoko , the traditional big boys have had on and off league campaigns, with both teams flirting dangerous with relegation in the league.

Yes, they may be the two biggest clubs in and yes, they do deserve respect but the Ghana Football Association and the Premier League Board should not sanction any plotting that will however aid Hearts and Kotoko to stay in the league.

It is becoming a normal trend - especially when the league reaches the last ten mathcdays or so - that many clubs and officials get involved in match fixing to aid others to escape relegation.

It is a little bit worrying when people who should know better make comments that seems to suggest that they will be in support of a grand plan to help some clubs. Last week, the Vice Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Isaac Koomson, was quoted by saying: “It will be suicidal if Hearts and Kotoko are made to be relegated”.

Mr. Isaac Koomson’s comments may not have any ill will but a man of his position should not be heard making utterances that go to confirm the longstanding belief that the Ghanaian leagues are suspiciously run. There may be no vivid evidence but with where we are in the FCPPL, it will be no surprise if some teams record some unbelievable results.

In football, there is a saying that anything can happen but some results that are already being recorded in the league make one believe that there is something dubious going on.

The GFA and the PLB should be alert and not involve any match fixing issues to help keep the integrity of the local game.
