Poor planners: GHALCA is collapsing - Former GHALCA boss

Joseph Yaw Appiah has stated the Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA) has lost its organizational power and what made it a pressure group in Ghana football.

The current GHALCA administration has been criticised for mismanaging the affairs of the organisation by most football analysts and enthusiasts, especially their failure to properly organise the GHALCA Top-4 and the President's Cup

And the ex-Chairman of the body has added his voice to the poor state of GHALCA, but is still optimistic that things will get back to normal.

'The way we organised the top four and president's Cup have changed. GHALCA is not vibrant as it used to be during our time in office and sometimes I cry over the current state of GHALCA, but so far as there is life there is still hope, he told Kasapa FM.

He was quizzed if the current structure of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is what has limited the powers of the mother body of the league clubs and he commented that it rather the personalities that should make GHALCA powerful and not the office.

'There is no powerful stool on this planet. It is rather the occupants who are powerful,' he added.

Until late 2005, the Vice Chairman of GHALCA automatically assumed power as GFA Vice Chairman. However, the clause that permitted that to happen was amended and the Vice Chairmanship position was also contested for. It was that cause that ushered in Kwesi Nyantakyi as the GFA Vice Chairman in 2005, after winning election as GHALCA Vice Chairman.

GHALCA have managed to organise the TOP-4 twice, since 2011 and there is mostly issues with the President's Cup due to poor planning on their part.

The Current GHALCA Chairman is Alhaji Ali Raji, who has been in office since 2011.
