Ashanti Region new sprint idol Emmanuel Appiah Kubi aka “Bino” run fastest beating compatriot Shadrack Opoku Agyeman and Greater Accra’s Desmond Aryee in a very hot contest in the Senior Men’s 100 meters dash to pick the cash prize at stake.

In the Female Division of the seniors, Beatrice Gyaman of Fire Service beat Happy Abruyah from Ashanti and Aba Amengu Sam from the Western Regions respectively to pick her cash.

Other winners on the day were Doris Afriyie- Girls Under 10, Yaw Buadu- Boys Under 10, Christie Oko- Girls Under 13, Emmanuel Appau- Boys Under 13, Mary Boakye- Girls Under 18 and Barnabas Asante -Boys Under 18.

Ghana’s Fastest Human 2015 is sponsored by Surfline, GNPC, Adidas,Moringa King and First Atlantic Bank with support from the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA).

Rex Brobby, brain behind the Ghana Fastest Human Race commended the guests who graced the event and the young runners who showed great talent and potential.

In the event, Boys U-18 was won by Barnabas Asante of Greater Accra in a time of 10.7 seconds beating Roland Kumi-Yeboah of Brong Ahafo (10.9) and Odei Mark of Eastern Region (11.0 secs) into 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Mary Boakye of Ashanti came tops in the Girls U-18 division after clocking 12.1 seconds with Ernestina Aryee of Greater Accra (12.2secs) placing 2nd and Hawa Awudu also of Greater Accra finishing 3rd in 12.3secs.

Mustafa B. Alufar (12.5) of Greater Accra emerged the Boys U-15 winner, followed by Afriyie Nana Kwesi Konadu also of Accra in second place (12.9) and Francis Abban (Greater Accra) who clocked 13.1 seconds to claim third spot.

Constance Adjei of Ashanti Region clocked 13.1 seconds to win the Girls U-15 category, beating into second spot, Benedicta Anwmaaba of Upper East (13.4) whilst Mawan Anokye of Greater Accra took third spot in a time of 13.6 seconds.

The Boys U-13 division was won by Emmanuel Appau of Greater Accra followed by Isaac Adams (also of Greater Accra) and Isaac Arthur of Ashanti Region in that order whilst the Girls U-13 champion was Christiana Oduro, second went to Lois Nketia and Rosemary Adam finished third.

Nuhu Sheikh Osman (13.3) went home as the Boys Under 10 champion after beating John Darko (13.4) and Yaw Boadu (13.4) into second and third positions respectively (all from the Ashanti Region).

All the Girls U-10 winners were also from the Ashanti Region which saw Doris Afriyie (13.3), Belinda Oforiwaa (13.4) and Sheridan Nsia (13.5) finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

According to the organisers, the next event on the Ghana’s Fastest Human 2015 calendar comes off in Kumasi.

Some former athletes who were at the El Wak Stadium included Olympians Hannah Afriyie, Ohene Karikari and Mike Ahey. Former President J.J. Rawlings was also there to inspire the young runners.
