JUL 21, 2015 LISTEN

The new series from the team at 99.7FM, tracking the latest moves in the window. We call it the #JoySports Transfer Daily. Here, we summarize all the moves and rumours in a quick, easy to read format.

The series started on July 1 and ends on August 31.

When does the transfer window open?
The Premier League season wrapped up on May 24 and there has been a slew of confirmed transfers since - including James Milner and Danny Ings to Liverpool and Memphis Depay's move to Manchester United. But the window did not officially open until 12am on Wednesday 1 July 2015.

Is that the same across Europe?
No it is not. The transfer window dates for the major European leagues have yet to be finalised, but France, Germany, Spain and Italy's tends to open at the beginning of June rather than July. This means players from those leagues can agree moves into England, but transfers will not be ratified until July 1. The Dutch summer transfer window tends to open in the second week of June.

In today's edition…
Bayern refuse United's record bid for Thomas Muller

Manchester United have reportedly had a record bid turned down by Bayern Munich for their 25-year-old, do-it-all forward, Thomas Muller.

The paper is claiming that Louis van Gaal and Co. have offered €one hundred million (£69.5 million) for Muller but the Bavarian giants have already rejected that bid.

Man United have made no secret of their Muller affection in the past two seasons, reportedly putting in bids last summer as well. Sport1 also believes that Bayern have rejected a previous offer of €82 million (£57 million) turned down.

But Bayern are in no mood to sell, as evidenced by their resolve when faced with such audacious sums of money. Watch this space, folks...

Otamendi finally heading to United?
Nicolas Otamendi is hopeful he can seal a move to Old Trafford within the next few days.

According to reports in Spain, the Argentine has no intention of returning to Valencia for pre-season training.

Louis van Gaal is reportedly interested in the centre-back, but Valencia are holding out for £35m for their star defender.

Real reject Arsenal Benzema bid
Arsenal have seen a big-money bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema rejected, according to the Daily Express.

Real were initially open to selling the striker but it would seem as though they have changed their stance and want to keep the France international at the Bernabeu.

Arsene Wenger has been looking to strengthen his striking options, as the Gunners look to mount a sustained title challenge this season, but it would appear that Benzema is no longer feasible.

Arsenal have also been linked with Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain and Man City forward Edin Dzeko this summer.

....And Szczexit?
Is Wojciech Szczesny preparing for life after Arsenal?

The Gunners Polish goalkeeper is fuelling rumours be heading for the exit after following five Roma players, and the club itself, on Instagram.

Szczesny lost his spot between the posts to David Ospina at the beginning of 2015 and the arrival of Petr Cech is sure to push him further down the pecking order.

.. Also, Flamini is close to exit
Mathieu Flamini is closing in on a move to Galatasaray, according to reports in Turkey.

The Frenchman, who is currently in his second spell at Arsenal, was shunted down the Emirates pecking order by the emergence of Francis Coquelin last season.

He didn't start a Premier League game in 2015 and is set to move to Istanbul for around £2.8m later this week.

CHELSEA PREPARE FRESH STONES BID
Chelsea will lodge an improved £34million bid for John Stones in an attempt to weaken Everton’s resolve.

The Premier League champions have ignored the Toffees’ claim that Stones is not up for transfer at any price and are prepared to make the 21-year-old the most expensive defender in British football history – eclipsing the £30million Manchester United paid for Rio Ferdinand in 2002.

It is thought Chelsea view Stones as the long-term replacement for John Terry at Stamford Bridge.

Everton, however, maintain they will not be changing their stance on Stones and highlight their reluctance to sell Leighton Baines to Manchester United two years ago as evidence they will not budge.

West Ham set to confirm new signing
West Ham are set to confirm the signing of attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini.

The exciting 22-year-old will join on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

It is reported he has completed his medical and is now waiting for the necessary paperwork to seal the transfer.

Lanzini will become the Hammers’ seventh signing of the summer. Known as ‘The Jewel’, he began his career at River Plate then moved to Al Jazira Club in the UAE via Fluminese.

..AND ALSO READY NEW MIRALLAS BID
West Ham are ready to make a second bid for Everton winger Kevin Mirallas after having an opening £6million bid rejected.

The London club have targeted Mirallas to replace Stewart Downing, who joined Middlesbrough for £7million last week, and believe the Belgian is keen on moving to Upton Park.

Everton are thought to want around £8million for the Belgian, who only has one year remaining on his Goodison Park contract.

NEWCASTLE SIGN MITROVIC
Newcastle United have signed Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht on a five-year deal subject to a work permit.

The 20-year-old scored 23 goals in 44 appearances for Anderlecht last season, impressing in the Champions League group stages, scoring against Borussia Dortmund and in a 3-3 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in November.

He said: "There will be pressure here, for sure, but I like pressure.

"I also know about the famous players who have played for Newcastle United, like Alan Shearer who is a hero of mine.

"I hope I can play like him for this club. It will be an honour."

VILLA SHOW DESTRO INTEREST
Aston Villa have shown an interest in Roma striker Mattia Destro

Villa boss Tim Sherwood is in need to attacking options in light of the imminent departure of Christian Benteke to Liverpool.

Gazetta claim Roma would be willing to let Destro leave the Stadio Olimipico this summer, and the Giallorossi have been continuously linked with replacements, notably Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

Villa, however, may struggle to pull off the audacious move with Destro having already snubbed a move to Monaco this summer in favour of staying in Rome.

ALBION TO HOLD LAMBERT TALKS

Lambert started just seven Premier League games for the Reds last season and has just one year remaining on his current Anfield contract.

...BUT NORWICH ENTER RACE
Norwich are leading the race to sign Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert.

,Bournemouth and Aston Villa have all shown an interest in the former England hitman, but it would seem that Canaries chief Alex Neil has stolen a march on his rivals.

Norwich are believed to be ready to offer a fee of around £3million for 33-year-old, who looks certain to leave Anfield ahead of Christian Benteke's switch to Merseyside from Villa.

Neil certainly has a number of attacking options at his disposal but Lambert is a proven goalscorer at Premier League level, despite his disappointing spell at Liverpool.

SPURS TARGET NJIE
Tottenham have reportedly launched a £7million move for Lyon's highly-rated Cameroon international forward Clinton Njie.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to freshen up his attacking options ahead of the new season, with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado almost certain to leave the club before the summer transfer window closes on September 2.

The 21-year-old is attracting the interest of a number of top clubs in Europe after enjoying an excellent season with the Ligue 1 outfit.

He made 33 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight times and chipping in with nine assists.

Stambouli said of his move: "I am delighted and very proud to become a member of the Paris Saint-Germain family.

"I wasn’t necessarily planning to leave the Premier League after one year but when a club with the dimension of Paris Saint-Germain calls you, it makes your choice a lot easier!"

Drogba has offers
Former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba says an offer from Inter Milan could just tempt him to stay in Europe rather than continue his career in the United States.

Sources say Drogba, 37, has been offered a contract withChicago Fire and that several other MLS sides are interested, but he is keeping his options open amid links with Inter.
