Jordan Ayew signed for Lorient in 2014 for four years.

Lille coach Herve Renard seems to have given up on his pursuit of Ghana striker Jordan Ayew due to his prize tag.

Ayew's club Lorient are demanding €12 million for his services but Lille do not have the financial wherewithal to sign him.

Renard has admitted that recruiting the 22-year-old will be “very difficult”.

“Jordan is not part of our plans and ability now. Our priority is to enlist one or two defenders,” the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winning coach with Ivory Coast said.

Ayew's 12 goals and five assists helped Lorient to escape relegation by the skin of the teeth.

On Sunday, L'Equipe reported English Premier League sides Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Everton are interested in his services.
