Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu's transfer move to Stoke City has hit a snag after reports in Italy suggest that the English club are looking to sign Inter Milan's Xherdan Shaqiri instead.

Reports emanated last week that Stoke have held talks over a deal for the Udinese midfielder ahead of a proposed £4million deal.

The 24-year-old and his representative Papa Agyemang were even at Stoke's training ground on last week Monday to seal a dream move to the English Premier League.

But Italian outlet, tuttomercatoweb, is reporting that Stoke manager Mark Hughes has dropped his interest in signing the former Asante Kotoko midfielder but made Swiss playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri his number one priority signing.

The Ghana international has one year left on his Udinese contract.
