And on 19 minutes, Umar Bashiru rose to head in Martin Antwi's cross from the left with goalkeeper Mozart Adjetey completely beaten and flat-footed.

But the second-half belonged to Lions who piled pressure and forced the WAFA defenders to commit mistakes.

One of those incursions resulted in a corner-kick and when it was whipped in, it put the hosts out of the equation ad it dropped in front of Osman Sackey.

From there, Lions had their confidence level upped and they tormented WAFA with some aggressive play.

Isaac Quansah could have sealed the game on 70 minutes when he profited from a communication gap at the back of WAFA but he shot wide much to the dismay of their fans.

WAFA made changes and one of the fresh limbs Charles Boateng caused problems with his swift play.

He picked a ball close to the touchline and then cut in before playing a one-two with Ashimeru Majeed.

Boateng's return pass to Kennedy Kissi resulted in the penalty as the latter was felled by Benjamin Agyare in the box.

The referee hesitated for some second before pointing to the spot. The Lions benched was incensed and protested but that was transient.

Boateng picked the ball and with a lot of confidence planted it in the right with the goalkeeper sent the wrong way.
