Ghanaian winger Ernest Asante has insisted he cannot celebrate in case he scores against his former club IK Start in the Norwegian top-flight clash on Saturday afternoon.

The 26-year-old, who once had trials at Manchester United, has travelled to Kristiansand with his club Stabaek IF where they are billed to face his former club IK Start in the Norwegian Eliteserien at the Sør Arena.

Asante goes into the game on the back of his superb scoring form after netting seven (7) league goals and stood out as a brilliant architect of six (6) goals in 14 outings for Stabaek, a club handled by former United States and Egypt coach Bob Bradley.

The lightening-paced winger left IK Start before the start of the season to join Stabaek after spending five seasons at the club and scoring 25 league goals.

At IK Start, Asante has almost become a cult figure for the fans and for this reason, he tells GHANAsoccernet.com he cannot celebrate in case he scores in the game and he is hoping to score.

“It feels great to be back to Kristiansand and the fans who are yearning to see me again. I hope to score in every game and this is against my [former] club and I know they will work as always so I’m aware of the threats they carry,” he said.

“No, for the respect I have for the club and moreover the fans I cannot celebrate when I score. But also I’m sorry for the Stabaek fans but I’m sure they will understand,” he explained.
