Sulley Muntari’s contract at AC Milan has been terminated

Agent of Sulley Muntari, Federico Pestorello insists the termination of the Ghana midfielder's contract at AC Milan was by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old has been cut lose by the Rossoneri despite having a year left to run on his contract.

Muntari fell out with officials of the club after learning he was not going to feature prominently in the side next season.

He even declared he was no longer going to play for Milan despite observing all club activities such as training while also taking his salary.

News of his contract termination thus didn't come as a surprise to many as the former Inter Milan man, according to his agent was bracing himself to exit the San Siro.

'He [Muntari] realised he wasn't part of their [Milan] plans,' Pestorello said.

'Sulley is very fond of Milan, Adriano Galliani and the whole club, but realized his time at Milan was over, so came to this decision.

'This morning Galliani again showed himself to be very sensitive. He was disappointed by the situation, but this is football.

'Muntari realized he wasn't part of their plans and therefore didn't want to be a burden to the club.'

Muntari joined AC Milan in 2012 having won a historic treble of the Serie-A, Coppa Italia and Champions League at Inter.

His role with the first team however increasingly got diminished until now that his contract is being revoked.
