Ghana winger Christian Atsu insists he has no regrets with his decision to join Chelsea despite his inability to gain a place in the first team.

The 23-year-old joined the English champions back in 2013 from FC Porto but has since been farmed out on successive loan stints.

Atsu first had a stellar season at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem in the 2013/14 campaign where he was voted the club's Player of the Season.

A subsequent season-long loan move to Everton - considered as the ideal stepping stone for him to gain Premier League experience - failed to go as plan as the Ghana international struggled for regular playing time at Goodison Park.

Atsu has again been sent on loan on his return to Chelsea and will now begin the fresh campaign at newly promoted Bournemouth.

Many feel the former FC Porto stay made the wrong decision to move to Chelsea where even a lot of big name signings had struggle.

Critics feel he is better off joining a less glamorous club in order to gain regular first team action.

But the skillful winger insists he made the right choice in joining Chelsea thus having no regrets with the move.

'I have absolutely no regrets at all [for joining Chelsea],' Atsu told GHANAsoccernet.com.

'I believe I am good enough and that is why the club even signed me.

'I know it is a big club but if I didn't believe in my quality, I wouldn't have signed for them.'

Atsu impressed at the 2015 AFCON with Ghana where he emerged as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

His heroics in Equatorial Guinea however was not enough to propel him up the perking order during the final leg of his loan stint at Everton.
