Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah is awaiting clearance from his personal doctor before traveling back to the UK to continue with treatment of a recent injury setback.
The Crystal Palace player is suspected to have suffered a cruciate ligament injury which sees him ruled out of Ghana's opening 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday .
Appiah however remains in Accra as the rest of the team continue with preparations towards the game to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
But GFA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara has confirmed the striker is billed to return to his base in the UK to continue with his treatment.
'Kwesi [Appiah] will need to go back to the UK to continue with his treatment,' Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara said.
'Unfortunately his personal doctor is on holidays and therefore he has to wait a while. He is still in Accra.'
Appiah misses an opportunity to play his first competitive match for the Black Stars before the Ghanaian crowd with his latest injury setback.
The 24-year-old justified his surprise inclusion into the Ghana squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with a goal in the lead up to Ghana's second-place finish in Equatorial Guinea.
