Sports News Favourite: Tottenham emerges as frontrunner for Andre Ayew
JUN 1, 2015 LISTEN

Englis club Tottenham have emerged as the prime candidate to secure the services of Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew

Ayew, 25, is out of contract on 30th June and has not been offered a fresh contract. The forward too has shown an interest in plying his trade in a new league next season.

He has professed his preference for the Premier League and has talked about being a boyhood Liverpool fan, but now Tottenham have joined the race for the forward.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato has reported that Tottenham are keen to secure Ayew who would strengthen Mauricio Pochettino's side as they attempt to improve upon their fifth place finish in the league and qualify for the Champions League next term.

Roma were reported to be the leading contenders to land Ayew, but the deal is reported to have fallen through.

That could pave the way for Tottenham, who will play in the Europa League next season, to go after the forward.

Ayew has scored 11 times and assisted a further six goals from his 30 appearances in all competitions this season.
