Currently rated at number 6 in the Bantamweight Division by The Ring Magazine; former IBF Bantamweight champion, Ghana’s Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko has assured that he is well-prepared and ready to return onto the boxing scene hence, “I am very positive about winning this fight. It means a lot to me.”

Having his first fight with Filipino’s Juanito Rubillar after his last bout in December 2013 with Guillermo Rigondeax; the fight which was scheduled for May 16, 2015, was postponed to May 30, 2015 due to the change of venue from Southwest University Event Center to El Paso County Coliseum, Texas.

In an interview with AmaLarbieAfrica.com on April 17, Agbeko said, “I have been in the gym for quite some time now, undergoing training at Floyd Mayweather's gym in Las Vegas with Floyd’s uncle, Roger Mayweather and I have learnt from him.”

Adding, “I am working very hard for my comeback. So I am very well prepared for this fight.”

According to King Kong, “although every fighter is a threat; it’s boxing, it’s about win, lose or draw and Rubillar has fought more I have and is very experienced; I am very well-prepared and I assure Ghanaians and fans worldwide nothing but victory at the end of this fight. It really means a lot to me.”

The 3-time World Bantamweight Champion is with a record of 29W 5L 0D 22KOs and is currently in a 3-year promotional contract with Former World Champion, Roy Jones Jnr’s RJJ Promotions.

Agbeko has fought on Showtime and HBO with against the likes of Abner Mares, Vic Darchinyan, Yonny Perez, Vic Darchinyan and Guillermo Rigondeaux, among others.
