Ashanti Club Wins Boadi Shell Trophy …On AU Day

The Ashanti Tennis Club has whipped Mess Tennis Club to emerge champions of the AU Day Tennis Tournament, sponsored by the Boadi Junction Shell Filling Station in Kumasi.

The tournament, which was played on the court of 4 Garrison Mess Tennis Club on Monday, saw the visitors winning the singles 4-3 and also repeating the dose in the doubles.

For their efforts, the Ashanti Tennis Club took home a giant trophy presented by the Boadi Junction Shell Filing Station, sole sponsors of the one-day tournament, which attracted a massive crowd.

Briefing the gathering during the trophy presentation, Jackson Prah, CEO of Boadi Junction Shell Filling Station said his company sponsored the event to promote tennis in the country.

He showered praises on the winners, Ashanti Tennis Club, for beating the home team in front of their supporters, stressing that his filling station felt so proud to associate itself with the tournament.

Showing their appreciation, Mess Tennis Club, hosts of the tournament, presented a certificate to Boadi Junction Shell Filling Station for playing a vital role to make the tournament a huge success.

Brigadier General Joseph Adu Boampong, the General Officer Commanding the Central Command, urged Ghanaians to adopt tennis as a sport, since it promotes good health.

Samuel Ampadu Kyei aka 'Kyikyiss' and Alex Asante Yeboah nicknamed 'Abele,' presidents of Mess Tennis and Ashanti Club respectively, praised Boadi Junction Shell for making the event grand.
