Ghana attacker David Accam has admitted the difficulty in playing against Columbus Crew but expressed joy on his return to scoring form.

Accam, 24, scored his second goal of the Major League Soccer campaign as he headed home a 58th minute goal in Chicago Fire’s 2-2 split with Columbus Crew at the Mapfre Stadium on Friday night.

The former Helsingborg IF star had his electrifying and lightening pace and skill on show as he wowed fans with his impressive footwork.

But most importantly the Black Stars player admitted his joy for his goal: “I’m really happy to get on the score sheet. My hard work and effort had paid off this time,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com in a post-match interview .

Sierra Leonean forward Kei Kamara had scored twice to put Crew 2-0 up but Accam inspired Frank Yallop’s men as they staged to a come-back to confirm their superiority over their host with Jamaican international Jason Johnson scoring the leveller in the 94th minute.

” It was difficult game for us but the guys battle really hard to come back from 2 nil,” he added.

Fire are without a win their last four league games but Accam believes the spirited display against Crew will serve as a push to end their winless run when they face Montreal Impact next weekend.

“It gives us a confident boost for our next game. We will take a lot of positives from this game,” he said hopefully.
