Hearts of Oak defender Philip Boampong doubts if the proposal from the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) to enhance the working conditions of home-based players will be successful.

The GFA's Executive Committee have invited the professional player union for further discussions on a proposal to set basic standards of working conditions for players in the Ghanaian top flight.

The PFAG's proposal includes the enhancement of salaries, medical insurance and pension schemes for players.

This initiative will be extended to other divisions once it proves successful with clubs in the top flight.

But Hearts defender Philip Boampong is not sure the proposal will be successful despite lauding the initiative taken by the PFAG.

“It is a good move by the PFAG but I doubt if their proposal will be successful,”

“It is the same club owners who form the GFA and they always tell us the players that the finances of the clubs are very poor it cannot support such increment.

“The always say they don't get the patronage needed for them to pay competitive salaries.”
