TWO Premier Soccer League misfits Fatau Dauda and Yakubu Mohammed are returning to South Africa after being included by Ghana in their proposed squad for the Cosafa Cup next week.

Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda, flogged out by both Orlando Pirates and Chippa United, and striker Yakubu Mohammed, who managed just a single goal for Maritzburg United, are in the reckoning for selection.

Both have since returned home after a disappointing South African experience but have been included in a squad of home-based players for the Black Stars’ guest appearance at the southern African champions in the North West province.

Pirates spent heavily on Dauda but he made just three appearances for them in the 2013-14 season.

They then let him go to Chippa United but after only one game he cancelled his contract and returned home.

Despite his lack of game time at club level, Dauda still went to the World Cup in Brazil with Ghana, played in one match and was also cover at the African Nations Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea earlier this year.

Dauda, now 30, is playing for Asantigold, who top the standings in the Ghana premier league. Mohammed is also on their books.

He had his contract cancelled two seasons ago by Maritzburg after arriving with a reputation as a goal plunderer but failing in the PSL.

He had a two-year deal but after 12 months the two parties agreed to go their separate ways.

Ghana play on Monday at the Cosafa Cup against the winner of the first round Group B, which will be decided tomorrow.
