Great privilege: Teyehungmeh revels in Lebanon Cup success
21.05.2015 LISTEN

Emmanuel Ofori Teyehungmeh is basking in the glory of lifting his first major silverware in professional football following his side, AC Tripoli's shock victory over giants, Nejmeh in the Lebanon Cup final on Tuesday.

Teyehungmeh who has been a regular for Tripoli all season since joining the Lebanon Premier League side along with two other countrymen, Michael Helegbe and Douglas Nkrumah, was again in action all game long as Tripoli put the disappointment of finishing behind Nejmeh in the league to defeat the favourites 2-1.

Helegbe who finished top scorer in the league, it was again who opened the scoring for Tripoli after riffling in a 35-metre thunderbolt on 58 minutes before another goal for the underdogs ensured Nejmeh's injury time strike proved a mere a consolation for the also dethroned league champions.

It was the first Cup success for Tripoli in the 48 year history of the competition but for Emmanuel Teyehungmeh, it was special moment to savour on a personal note as his only previous cup triumph as a footballer was during his days in the youth side of former Ghana Premier League champions, Berekum Chelsea with whom he won the Yokohama under-19 tournament in Ostrach, Germany.

"It is a great privilege for me as a young player who has achieved this with my first club as a professional," an obviously elated Teyehungmeh told Allsports.com.gh exclusively from his Lebanon base.

"I feel excited n it has really encourage me to work hard to achieve more too," the 22 year old centreback added.

The former Berekum Chelsea and Amidaus Professionals defender joined Tripoli on a one-year deal but is adamant on his next move even as the season folds, Tripoli only finishing third in the Lebanon Premier League.

"Concerning offers, there are many talks going on so I need to have patience and leave all to my agent because he knows best. Mine is to work harder," Teyehungmeh said. Follow @thedonplato
