Hearts of Oak edge out Djoliba AC to reach final stage of CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers

Hearts of Oak have advanced to the final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage qualifiers despite losing 1-0 to Djoliba AC in their return leg clash played at the Accra Stadium on Sunday.

The Phobians who are Ghana's only remaining representatives in continental club football, have now qualified edged out their Malian opponents coutesy the away goal rule after they won 2-1 away in the first leg.

Coach Herbert Addo's side could now compete in the group stage of the competition if they manage to scale over their next opponents.

The Ghanaian club will know their next opponents on Tuesday after a draw which will be conducted for the clubs that failed to progress in the CAF Champions League.

Hearts of Oak won the maiden edition of the Confederation Cup in 2004 after beating local rivals Asante Kotoko in the final match.
