Dauda Mohammed scored in the first half and Kennedy Ashia added another after the interval to hand Ghana a 2-0 victory over Liberia in the first leg of the Rio 2016 preliminary round qualifier on Sunday.

Backed by vociferous Tamale fans, the Black Meteors dominated throughout with some attractive attacking football at the Tamale Sports Stadium to gain the result that puts Coach Malik Jabir's charges in full control ahead of the second leg in Monrovia.

But Team Ghana will threading with caution following the courageous displays by the Liberians in the dying embers of the first leg in the Northern Region capital, as confessed by a Black Meteors Management Committee member.

"The Liberians played some good football in the second half. The second leg is not going to be easy but I believe will sail through," Charles Kwadwo Ntim told Allsports.com.gh after the game.
