Newly elected Prsident of the Ghana Kick Boxing Federation (GKBF) Nii Adotey Dzata I also known in private life as Mr. Joseph Mingle has promised to make Kick Boxing one of the vibrant sports disciplines in Ghana.

Speaking to yours truly after he had accepted to become the leader of the Federation, he said his business partners are putting up an arena for boxing and kick boxing at the Royal Dede Hotel at Korle Gonno and very soon the Golden Beach Resort will be not only for relaxing and holidaying, but for serious sports business.

He said the arena is almost complete and its not far from the people who love the sport, so people and fans will come and enjoy big time events.

He noted that Ghana Sports in general is coming down and called on all well-meaning citizens especially the traditional leaders to help by giving out lands to build sports facilities.

As a traditional leader, he promised to bring on board some chifs who love sports and ensure that things are done right especially building of facilities to develop and promote the lesser known sports.

He did not like Kick Boxing to be labeled as a lesser known sports, because it is big in some countries.

According to the President, God gave human being different talents and skills and not everyone can play football or run, so it is up to the government to build sports halls in all the regions for people to discover their talents and do what they can do best to earn medals for the nation.

The widely travelled Kick Boxer said the sport is not easy and one has to be very disciplined to play, hence he appealed to all members and stakeholders of Kick Boxing to come out and join in putting the sport on a sound footing.

He praised Yoofi Boham, the Vice President and Dr. Chris Kpoda for using their maturity to support the Federation.

He also commended all the delegates who attended the Congress on Tuesday April 21, 2015 and prayed that they will all contribute to make Kick Boxing one of the popular sports in Ghana.

Nii Dzata commended the media for supporting Kick Boxing and hoped they will keep on propagating what they do at the Federation, in the clubs and gyms as well as market their events.

Nii Dzata I is also the enstooled Gyaase hene of Akim Asubua in the Eastern Region and bears the name Nana Kwadwo Ohene II.

He was awarded by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) after winning the bronze medal at the World Kick Boxing Championship in Scotland, which featured 52 countries.
