Ex-Ghana striker Augustine Ahinful says the failure of current players to consult retired star is a contributive factor to premature end to their mercurial talents.

The Ankaragucu and Boavista striker is saddened by the bench roles of some national team players abroad.

Ahinful believes the situations they find themselves are avoidable.

“I become very sad when I hear the likes of Samuel Inkoom, Anthony Annan, Dominic Adiyiah and the rest struggling to attract a team to play for. These are players, who showed so much promise and still do, but they allowed their search for money to take a better part of their decision and now they are paying dearly for it one way or the other,” Ahinful said on GTV's Sunday Night Live Programme.

“Some ex-players went through the same ordeal and we have been advising them anytime we get the chance that in all their dealings, though money is good, they need to choose a club that will give them enough playing time, by so doing the money will come.

“Unfortunately, they never learn and most of them fall into that trap over and over again and by the time they realize, their careers will be over.

“We are here for them but they never approach us, and even those that we manage to get close to and offer free advice, tend to feel that we are doing so because we want their money or something.

“And for me it's sad that some players like Atsu, Wakaso, Waris and a few Black stars players are virtually not wasting away at their respective Clubs because of lack of playing time.”
