Adviser for Baba Rahman, Kurt Okraku says he is glad the Ghana defender was not sold to an elite European club back in 2012.

The 20-year-old is one of the current most sought player in Europe due to his impressive performance for Augsburg in the German top flight.

Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg have all been linked with the flying left-back.

The Ghanaian looks increasingly set to make the step up to a big name club at the end of the current campaign.

Rahman however had the opportunity to join such a high profile club when he first burst onto the scene as a loan player at Asante Kotoko.

The youngster surprisingly joined then Bundesliga new entrants Greuther Furth who guaranteed him regular first team action to aid his development.

This decision was contrary to the practice where agents and players jump at the faintest of opportunities to join big European clubs only to rot away on the bench.

Such a move is reminiscent to the one made by Dominic Adiyiah to AC Milan in 2009 after emerging best player and top scorer of the FIFA U20 World Cup.

Baba Rahman's adviser Kurt Okraku says the decision to have his player join Furth was to avoid such on occurrence which could have capitulated the career of the youngster even before it started..

“As a team, looking back, we have taken the best of decisions for the boy,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“In the beginning, one would have sold him and made millions of euros and millions of pounds.

“Because there was Chelsea, there was Anderlecht, there was Arsenal, there was Man City, there was a small club called Greuther Furth and we decided he goes to the club that offered him the best of opportunities.

“And I think today, we all stand as victors in this project.”
