18.04.2015 LISTEN

Thomas Teye Partey's terrific week couldn't get any better after the Ghanaian midfielder was named in the La Liga team of the week on the back of his double for Almeria last weekend.

The 21 year Odumase Krobo born Atletico Madrid player on loan at Almeria scored twice to help his side sweep aside Granada 3-0 in a Spanish top flight match day 31 tie last Saturday.

It was the first victory for Almeria since a 2-1 win at Cordoba on February 8, a run of 9 La Liga games and also halt a 3-game losing run.

The three points also helped Almeria push up their tally for the season to 28 from 31 games and up level on points with Deportivo La Coruna who sit in the 17th and last survival spot only on goal difference over 18th placed Almeria.

It was the first goals for Partey in 24 appearances since joining Almeria on loan at the beginning of the season but the feat by the centreman did not go unnoticed and he was deservedly named in midfield of a star-studded LIGA BBVA Team of the week.

"Two goals in the derby against Granada powered Almeria to a 3-0 victory to end a run of three straight defeats," the weekly La Liga Preview Show read a citation in honour of the 21 year old.

"The Ghanaian midfielder consistently pops up in the final third of the park it was only the crossbar that denied him of a hat trick," it added in reference to how close Partey came to a treble late on.

Almeria are next away at Rayo Vallecano in La Liga match day 32 where victory is sure to move them out of the relegation zone at least. Follow @thedonplato
