The United States of America continued their assault against Ghana as they used yet another American-born Ghanaian in their senior national team on Thursday.

23-year-old attacker Gyasi Zardes who plays for Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy was handed his full debut by Yankees coach Jurgen Klinsmann and he lasted the entire duration of the friendly tie as they beat Mexico 2-0 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

However it was his fifth game for the USA team though he had not completed any of the previous five games.

Gyasi hugely impressed in the tie with US head coach Klinsmann praising the attacker. The US got what appeared to be an opening in the 28th minute, with Gyasi bearing down on goal but the ball was just beyond him, and he fell while trying to bring it down.

“I love it. I know growing up watching the U.S. play Mexico, every time that they played in the South[west], it was a home game for Mexico. I can't wait,” Gyasi expressed his delight about playing against Mexico.

Gyasi is the third player of Ghanaian descent the USA have capped in recent time following Freddy Adu and Joe Gyau who all have their roots in Ghana.
