The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed and former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Sam Brew Butler are expected to grace the much-awaited grand launch of the Stephen Appiah Testimonial Match fixed for Monday, April 13, at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC).

The newly-appointed minister is expected to lead the pack of high profile sports administrators, coaches, retired players and friends of the football icon to the grand launch of the event.

The grand launch, according to the organisers; Primeval Media, will be chaired by Nana Sam Brew Butler, former chairman of the GFA.

The event, which is also to be attended by the president of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi and other officials of the GFA such as George Afriyie, Kudjo Fianoo, etc will be used to herald series of activities earmarked by the organisers to honour the former captain of the Black Stars.

Also expected at the function are officials of Accra Hearts of Oak such as Gerald Ankrah Managing Director of the club, Ahaji Suleman “Alhaji Hearts” Braimah, Harry Zakkour, present and past board and management members of Accra Hearts of Oak.

Monday's launch is expected to be used to outline activities for the historic testimonial match and the players expected to participate in the match.

Appiah recently returned from Europe to extend invitation to his former play mates in Udinese, Parma, Brescia, Juventus and Fernabache.

The former captain of the Black Stars, who has played at all the levels of the national male soccer teams, called time on his illustrious career earlier this year.

The match will be used to honour him for his contribution to the development of football in Ghana.
