Former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy says he is "really interested" in signing for Asante Kotoko in order to work with David Duncan.

McCarthy, 25,is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract with Accra-based club Hearts of Oak.

The Feyenoord Academy product was on the verge of joining Accra Great Olympics but the transfer collapsed after the club failed to agree a deal to secure coach David Duncan.

McCarthy made no secret of his desire to move to the Ashanti Region, and he is determined to secure a transfer in order to link up with his former boss David Duncan and compete for more trophies in Kotoko's jersey.

He exclusively told Sports XTRA on Viasat 1: "I'd be really interested in moving to Kotoko, to team up with David Duncan."

"Duncan is one of the best coaches i've worked with and i wish to work him again." I got an idea of how much influence such a good coach can have in my football."

McCarthy added: "I have played for clubs in Central Region and Greater Accra, now I think it's time to try a new philosophy in the Ashanti Region."

"Ashgold is an option, but playing for a bigger club like Kotoko will be a dream come true."

MacCarthy was part of the three(3) Goalkeepers who represented Ghana in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

He was the number goalkeeper for the local Black Stars when they won silver in the first edition of the African Nations Championship(CHAN) hosted by Ivory Coast in 2009
