C.K. Akunnor, coach of Division One League new boys, departed Accra on Sunday for Germany on the invitation of Bundesliga side, VFL Wolsfburg.

The former Black Stars captain who retired from International football back in 2002 played for the German side for a period of five years and became a team captain in 2001.

Akunnor will spend two weeks with the club and whiles in Germany, he is expected to work closely with club manager Dieter Hecking who has a lot of respect for the former Ghanaian International.

The 41 year old is also expected to team up with some of his Ex team mates for a special programme put together by the clubs management to honour their past heroes.  

The 2009 League winners are in one of the finest moments in their history. They currently lie second on the League table keeping the chase on Champions Bayern Munich.

C.K Akunnor has masterminded Dreams FC's impressive campaign in the ongoing Division One League having won three games of the games, lost two and drawn one.

The Kweiman based side has 13 points from the seven games played so far and will be without him in the next two games against King Solomon and D'International. Assistant Coach Winfred Dormon will act as Head Coach until he returns.

C.K Akunnor joined Wolfsburg from Fortuna Koln in 1998 and made 121 appearances and scored 13 goals  for the Bundesliga side.
