Top level football resumes in England this weekend after a not-so-good outing by English teams in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

The Capital Cup Final just edges it as the top fixture of the weekend as Jose Mourinho's Chelsea come up against Mauricio's Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspurs .

Chelsea will go into the game seeking revenge for their 5-3 loss at White Hart Lane at the turn of the year, where Harry Kane run riot.

Nemanja Matic's absence due to a suspension may prove to be a difference maker in the match, with  John Obi Mikel out as well. Tottenham though have no fresh injury worries.

The first silverware of the season will be keenly contested between both sides on Sunday, and should prove to be a cracker.

In the Barclays Premier League , the headline fixture is of course between title chasers Manchester City and top four contenders Liverpool at Anfield.

Both sides battled to the very end for the league title last season, with the 'Cityzens' coming out on top after a series of slip-ups by the Reds.

Last season's fixture at Anfield ended in a pulsating 3-2 win for Liverpool, and if that is anything to go by, we could be in for another cracker on Sunday.

On the back of European cup disappointments over midweek, it will be interesting to see how both sides respond. Brendan Rodgers may have to do some tinkering after his side played 120 minutes against Besiktas.

Louis Van Gaal will be looking to lead Manchester United to back to winning ways after their loss to Swansea last weekend.

The Red Devils will play host to Sunderland at Old Trafford knowing very well that their top four hopes hang in the balance and will make sure they at least maintain their 4th spot.

An added incentive for United to beat Sunderland on Saturday is the fact that they were eliminated by the Black Cats in the Capital One Cup.

Jack Rodwell, Will Buckley and Billy Jones are doubts for Sunderland, but Emanuele Giaccherini is definitely out.

Arsenal leapfrogged United into 3rd place last week, and look in a strong position to finish in the top four, but Wenger will need to galvanise his men after a disappointing midweek.

The Gunners succumbed to a shocking 1-3 loss to Monaco at the Emirates and are on the brink of Champions League elimination. They come up against an Everton side who have failed to find consistency this season.

It will be an intriguing spectacle, as the home side battle to stay in the top four, with pressure coming from the likes of Manchester United, Southampton and Liverpool.

Other fixtures:
West Ham United - Crystal Palace
Burnley - Swansea City
Newcastle United - Aston Villa
Stoke City - Hull City
West Bromwich Albion - Southampton
