Tactical approach: Hearts 'to go all attack' against AS Police

Ghana's CAF Confederation Cup campaigners, Accra Hearts of Oak will trek to Benin as guest of AS Police in their return fixture with the intention to attack.

Despite winning the first leg in Accra a fortnight ago by a lone goal, the Phobians plan to finish off the business away FROM HOME when both teams clash at the weekend.

Hearts of Oak coach, Herbert Addo has told Cafonline.com that his charges plan to mount an all attacking plan against AS Police as the former champions seek passage to the next stage of the competition.

"My plan for playing continental teams away FROM HOME is to attack, attack and attack. It is always the best strategy for me because when you go attacking, your opponents have no opportunities to attack but defend."

The Phobians, champions of the maiden edition of the competition in 2004 will hunt for the maximum points at the expense of their host, according to Addo.

'Our host can best be described as a balanced side. I have not seen much of them except the first leg in Accra.

'Per what we saw, we have nothing to fear though their record as I researched means they are a team that concede few goals and score few in equal measure. We have a good chance of qualifying to the next stage."

On his slender lead ahead of the match, Addo said: 'Ideally, it will have been good to travel with an assurance of more goals in the bag. But that is not the case, and that is still good. It is better to at least have something than nothing.

"They traveled to Accra for the first leg purposely for a draw. They were defensive all through and they were helped by a very good goalkeeper. We hope to carry on from the first leg where we created many goal scoring opportunities and convert this time'.

Despite recent poor run on the local scene that has seen the former continental champions slip into the relegation zone of the Ghana Premier League, Addo says 'my team is far better than you all see now. They are proving so the last three matches. This game will be different because our defence is not as bad as people want to believe."    

With three victories, two draws and four losses in nine games in the Ghana Premier League, Addo insists his side is hitting their strides in time to turn the corner.

"The players are gelling very well now. Some unfortunately peaked too early because we had to wait six months for the local league to start. Now there is competition for all positions and the improvement will soon show.  This competition means so much to us and we have resolved to throw everything at it to advance."
