Jordan Opoku escaped lynching last Saturday when he was locked in a room at the Baba Yara Stadium to prevent blood-thirsty Kotoko fans from venting their spleen on him.

The incident happened minutes after Kotoko were defeated 1-0 by perennial arch rivals, Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak in a league match.

Jordan Opoku, who had a quiet afternoon, was reportedly heading for the Kotoko bus at the lorry park behind the VIP section of the stadium after taking part in a post-match press conference when some angry Kotoko fans raced towards him and started hurling unprintable words at the then frightened midfielder.

Things got nasty as the charged Kotoko supporters attempted to physically attack the player, but Jordan was rescued at the eleventh hour.

Kotoko stalwarts like Opoku Nti and several others, who witnessed the incident, rescued Jordan, who was kept in a locked room to keep the fans at bay.

Twum, a known Kotoko supporter, who witnessed the incident, condemned the fan attack on Jordan whilst speaking on Angel FM.

According to him, the attack was so serious that the player was only saved when he was placed in a locked room.

Jordan Opoku, reacting to the incident on Kotoko's website, called for calm among the teeming fans of the club, saying that he was also not happy about the defeat.

The experienced midfielder said the defeat to Hearts was not the end of the world for Kotoko, stressing that the Porcupine Warriors would bounce back strongly in the league.
