AFCON 2015: Ex-Ghana international Razak Pimpong urges Black Stars to eschew complacency

Ex-Ghana international striker Razak Pimpong has advised the current crop of Black Stars players to do away with complacency at Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana are through to the quarter final stage and are awaiting the drawing of lots involving Guinea or Mali to determine their opponents.

The Black Stars have looked good as the tournament progressed with dramatic wins against favorites Algeria and South Africa lifting confidence in camp.

Pimpong, a member of Ghana's 2006 FIFA World Cup finals squad in Germany,  is impressed with the team's performance in Equatorial Guinea.

“The Black Stars have been doing very well and have looked very committed in their last two games,” the former FC Copenhagen man told GHANASoccernet.com

Ghana have won the AFCON competition on four occasions but have gone 33 years without a the title now, in between that they have made the finals on two occasions 1992 and 2010 and Pimpong says it is the wish of all Ghanaians that the Stars break the jinx in Equatorial Guinea.

“We have done well in the last decade and it is our wish that they win us the trophy but football is a bit unpredictable.

“There have been great squads but have failed to win the AFCON, if they do away with complacency and work together they have all it takes to win it.”
