The captain of the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars produced some heroics last Friday in the 2015 African Cup of Nations against Algeria to keep the hope of Ghana progressing in the tournament alive.

On Tuesday, that dream of qualification was made possible by a heading goal from his assistant Andre Dede Ayew as the Black Stars came from a goal down to beat South Africa 2-1.

Captain and vice after qualifying to the quarter final of the AFCON 2015 strongly emphasized the team's determination to go far in the tournament.

Andre Ayew said of the qualification and Ghana's probable quarter final opponents:

'We won a very complicated group and we can be proud of this. But this is only the beginning and now we will try to go as far as we can.'

 'There are four very good teams in Group D and any one of them will now face us. And we will be ready for this fight.

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan who in the dying minutes of the Algeria game to lift hopes for the South Africa game added:

'With such a strong mentality, this team can compete against any team at this tournament.

'This is my fifth Nations Cup and this was the toughest fight Ghana have done to reach the quarterfinals.

 'We fought in every minute of the games, we did not give up, we believed till the end. Determination and character took us through particularly after we lost our first match.'

The Black Stars of Ghana will play the team that placed second in Group D after qualifying top of Group C.
