28.01.2015 LISTEN

Afriyie Acquah is desperate to make history with the Black Stars and is already looking forward to holding aloft the Africa Cup of Nations trophy with the national team come Equatorial Guinea 2015 final match day, February 8.

The Parma midfielder started both of Ghana's victories over Algeria and South Africa and after topping the much heralded 'Group of Death,' the 22 year old has started dreaming big.

Acquah says he has a very strong feeling this could finally be the year the 4-time Africa champions finally end a now 33 year wait for continental glory.

"I am excited because my career with the national team is rising and I'm gradually getting a secured position. I am very happy with the turn of events at this Nations' Cup and I would never forget," Acquah told Allsports.com.gh exclusively from the Black Stars camp in Mongomo.

"But what's most important is how the team does and I'm happy we qualified. After beating Algeria, we believe the cup is not far from coming to Ghana. After topping such a group, the next thing is only to bring the cup home," he added.

Ghana are yet to know their opponents for the last 8 tie on Sunday, waiting on Group D's last round of matches later this evening for confirmation.

But Afriyie Acquah is already looking well beyond whoever tonight's results put in front of the Black Stars and playing images of the Africa Cup in his grasp and medals dangling on his neck come February 8.

"We are ready for any challenge, we don't care who we get. We want the cup so we have to be ready for any team," Acquah said.

"Winning the Africa Cup will mean a lot to my young career, it would encourage me to fight harder to continue writing history," the 22 midfield enforcer affirmed. Follow @thedonplato
