JAN 28, 2015 LISTEN

John Boye is desperate to put behind him the ecstasy of scoring the goal that revived his country's fortunes at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and focus on the task ahead as he seeks to play a part in Ghana's quest to end a 33 year wait for silverware.

One of the most experienced members of the current team representing the country at the continental showpiece, Boye missed the opening two games through injury but his moment came when young defender, Daniel Amartey pulled up injured after 36 minutes of the first half.

In stepped Boye and he repaid the massive dose of confidence reposed in him by Coach Grant with the vital equaliser in the second half as Ghana came from behind to clinch victory and the crucial three points that powered the Black Stars to the top of the much heralded 'Group of Death.'

"It was a very special moment to score the equaliser, our team needed it very much to stay in the tournament and I thank God so much I was well placed to score and I took my chance," Boye told Supersport Africa right after the game at the Estadio de Mongomo.

"Everybody is thinking forward, the morale in camp is very high and I think everything is going to be very perfect, in Jesus name," the Turkey based defender added.

Congratulating him and urging him and the Black Stars on to go and make history by going for the ultimate for Ghana was legendary defender, Sammy Kuffour who minced no words speaking as a panelist on Supersport's live studio presentation of proceedings as well as pre and post match analysis.

"I am happy for him, coming from the bench to make such a difference, he did very well this evening. Normally he has to start, he is one of our regulars but he struggled with injury at the beginning of the tournament but I am excited for him for rising to the occasion today," Sammy Kuffour said.

"I was just happy with the team spirit today, the determination, the willingness to fight for the country, everybody wants to play for Ghana and they showed it today. If we mainatian the same level of team spirit and determination, no team can stop us," Kuffour affirmed. Follow @thedonplato
