Bafana Bafana skipper Dean Furman has bemoaned his side's lucklustre second half performance against Ghana in their final showing at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Shakes Mashaba's men entered the break 1-0 up thanks to Mandla Masango's fine 17th minute goal in an evenly-contested opening half.

However, Bafana were outplayed in the second period, as Ghana responded with goals from substitute John Boye and Andre Ayew to progress as Group C winners along with Algeria, who beat Senegal 2-0 in a simultaneous fixture.

Furman said: "We took the lead then allowed them back into the game. We sat too deep and ultimately that proved costly for us.

"I thought we had good moments but we were not as good as in the previous two games.

"Second half we were poor, we stopped playing the football that was so good for us over the two games.

"We kept giving the ball away, we invited pressure, and against a good side like Ghana they made us pay."

Bafana finished bottom of the pool with a point, notably taking the lead in all three of their matches at the CAF showpiece. Bafana lost 3-1 to Algeria and drew 1-1 with Senegal in their previous outings in Equatorial Guinea.
