Sports News Bony replacement: Majeed Waris on Swansea wanted list
JAN 27, 2015 LISTEN

Swansea City could turn to injured Trabzonspor attacker Abdul Majeed Waris as a replacement for Wilfried Bony.

The Ivory Coast star joined Manchester City for £28million and the Swans have a contingency plan in place.

Manager Garry Monk has claimed Swansea will not look to replace Bony during this transfer window but reports rifing in Turkey suggest that Swansea have started the process of drawing up a list of targets and have made Ghanaian international striker their number one priority.

Stoke City have also joined the battle for Waris, lining up an offer of £4m plus an extra £2m in future clauses. The transfer will likely take place at the end of the season.

Waris has already reportedly told Trabzonspor that he wants to leave in the January transfer window having failed to settle in Turkey.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Ligue 1 relegated side Valenciennes where he scored nine goals in 16 matches.
