Guinea captain Kamil Zayatte  says Guineans deserve to forget the pain of Ebola as his team prepares to fight for a place in the AFCON quarter finals in the tightest group of the competition on Wednesday.

The virus which has killed over 8,000 in West Africa affected the football itinerary of several countries including Guinea, who were forced to play their AFCON qualification home  matches in Morocco.

In need of a win to qualify in a tight group D, Zayatte tells AllSports.com.gh that every time they take the field is a mission to educate the world on Ebola.

"Our qualification was very hard. Every where we went we were met with chants of Ebola,Guinea,Ebola Guinea and it was very hard for us. At this tournament we are not just playing for results.

We are here to do well for our nation so that they can forget all that pain. That is our mentality when we take the pitch and that is what helps us to fight and move on in this tournament."

The Guineans host an equally motivated Malian side in Mongomo while rivals Cote d'Ivoire meet Cameroon Wednesday with all four teams in the group locked on two points.
