League Report Match Report: WAFA win first Premier League match
JAN 25, 2015 LISTEN

The woes of West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) ended on match day three of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier league when they hosted Great Olympics in Sogakope on Sunday.

The Ho based club came from a goal down to beat Great Olympics 2-1 at the Kpando Sports Stadium.

Fired up to get their win of the season, WAFA took the game to Great Olympics. They dictated play in the quarter of an hour until the 'Agorsue' boys settled in the game.

Coach Mingle's lads took the game to WAFA when they finally got into their rhythm; pinned them to the wall and their efforts paid dividends on the 27th minute through danger man, Daniel Appiah.

WAFA pushed men forward for their leveler, and almost did, but Zakariah Mumuni hit the side of the net.

Great Olympics remained resilient, and ended the first half with their noses in front.

WAFA returned in the second half more determined to get back on level terms, but Samuel Tetteh misfired most goal scoring opportunities they got.

As they kept asking questions, Kennedy Kwarteng restored parity for their first premier league goal on the 63rd minute.

After the leveler, WAFA were more fired up to go for the winner, but could not find a way past Great Olympics' resilient defence who read situations brilliantly.

Their hard work finally paid off on the 77th minute when Samuel Tetteh hit the back of the net with a calm finish. WAFA sat back to defend their solitary lead for the remaining minutes of the game, and did that well to secure their first win of the season.
