Young and talented: Godfred Donsah excels in Cagliari victory in Serie A
24.01.2015 LISTEN

Godfred Donsah is enjoying every bit of his football now following the Ghanaian youngster's impressive outing at the heart of midfield for Cagliari in their 2-1 victory over Sassuolo in the Italian Serie A on Saturday afternoon.

The 18 year old made light work of the huge task of matching up to some of the tough tackling midfielders in Italy powering Cagliari to all 3 points for their second win in three games, points enough to move them out of the relegation zone as they continued their revival under new coach, Gianfranco Zola.

Donsah was so impressive in the win for Cagliari, the club's official website's summary of the result featured only his photograph on the ball above the wording as captured by Allsports.com.gh above.

It was Donsah's third straight start (and 90 minutes) in the league as he appears to win the confidence of Zola after previously only making substitute appearances since switching Hellas Verona for the Stadio Sant'Elia last summer.

Donsah's first start for Cagliari came against Cesena on January 11 on 2014/15 Serie A match day 18 and the Ghanaian teenager wasted no time at all in making his mark, opening his goal account for the club after only 27 minutes to put Cagliari 2-0 up. It proved a decisive goal after Cesena pulled one back to end the game 2-1.

He was back on the bench for their next game, a Coppa Italia tie at Parma which they lost 2-1, Donsah only coming on in the 46th minute but was unable to help change the result but next league match day and he was straight back in Giafranco Zola's starting line-up for the trip to Udinese on 18 January.

Once again, Donsah would leave his mark, setting up Joao Perdo to put Cagliari up after 39 minutes at the Stadio Friuli for his first assist in Serie A. 2-2 that game will eventually finish after Udinese rallied to lead in the second half but Cagliari will not leave empty handed and equalised from the spot deep into injury time.

Any doubts about the importance of the talented 18 year old to Zola's ambitions at Cagliari were erased after Donsah again was named in the starting line up for today's Serie A Match Day 20 clash at home.

He went and delivered as usual, marshalling the midfield, breaking up opposition attacks and initiating ones for Cagliari as they romped to only their 4th victory of the season, two of them with Donsah in the tick of affairs. Follow @thedonplato
