JAN 24, 2015 LISTEN

Hearts of Oak were held to a 2-2 draw game at home by Medeama in the match day 3 of the ongoing First Capital Plus Bank Premier league on Saturday at the Essipong sports stadium.

Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Herbert Addo made 5 changes to his starting XI that lost 4-2 away to  Berekum Chelsea last Wednesday while stop-gap coach of Medeama, Annor Walker maintained his starting XI that drew goalless at home against Wa Allstars.

Medeama started the game as the aggressive side with a lot of consistent pressure on Hearts of Oak as the Phobians laboured in the early stages of the game. The Tarkwa based side nearly punished the Phobians in the 17th minute after Kwame Boahen strike was parried away by Seidu Mutawakilu in post for the Phobians.

The Phobians were relying on counter attack which was not working for the them as Medeama kept on asking questions with Heart of Oak defense looking vulnerable with Nathaniel  Asamoah and Hans Kwoffie causing problems for Hearts of Oak defenders being led by Owusu Bempa.

In the 20th minute, Hearts of Oak midfielder,  Emmanuel Hayford was stretched off due to an injury after a nasty tackle on him by Kofi Agyare which Issah Mumuni came in for the hardworking middleman for the Phobians.

Gilbert Fiamenyo who was quite in the game opened the scoring for the Phobians in the 44th minute mark with a half volley to beat Medeama's goalie Foli Adade as the former premier league champions head to the dressing room with a goal advantage.

From recess, Medeama mounted heavy pressure on Hearts of Oak as Kwame Boahen 20 yard drive was dealt with by Seidu Mutawakilu in post for the Phobia. The fragile Hearts of Oak defense was the weakest department as Medeama level the scores with a neat header in the 55th minute mark courtesy Benjamin Bature.

In- form Gilbert Fiamenyo restores the Phobians lead 5 minutes later and his brace on the day after he outwit two Medeama defenders to slot the ball pass Foli Adade. Hearts of Oak once against failed to defend their lead as Hans Kwoffie pulls even for the Mauve and Yellows 4 minutes later after Hearts of Oak defends were caught ball watching after a cross was floated in.

Medeama took control over the game after their equalizer but Nathaniel Asamoah was not at his best by failing to get the third goal for his side as the game ended 2-2.
